Weylandts began as a traditional furniture manufacturer in Windhoek Namibia, in 1964. The Weylandts aesthetic, initiated by Edgar Weylandt then later refined and curated by his son Chris Weylandt, marries Scandinavian design-mindedness with an African heartbeat. Today the store has seven retail showrooms in South Africa and one in Melbourne, Australia with plans for a second store in Sydney in the coming years.
There is a blurring of influences and geographical boundaries in a global mix of handcrafted elements, sourced from designers and makers from all corners. Weylandts is known for its' distinctive merging of clean minimalism with a raw, earthy spirit. Presenting the rare, the beautiful, the handcrafted - in curated seasonal ranges. This is what makes Weylandts collections unique. Weylandts is an authentic and masculine brand - with soul.
Bringing Weylandts pieces into your home will give it an earthy - yet refined, feel. Think raw materials in a polished way. Designers like Meryl Hare and Mary Lou Sobel feed off this warm look. And you can too by investing in a piece or two from Weylants. Here are some of my favourite pieces from Weylandts at the moment….
